@02:22 thank you so much .. i am honored by your words, and am especially happy to know (though, somehow, not at all surprised) that you well understand the particular fetish and the emotion related with it...
@02:22Thank you very much! ...That's reassuring, what you say about the speed. I also think that, on the other hand, concision in video is as important a quality as it is in, say, literature. And of course there're also the ever-shrinking attention-spans - my own included - to take into consideration...
@02:22That is very true. I suppose, while I was watching it and listening, I did not see/hear the inconsistency. But I will readily admit that I tend to miss fine details such as that. So maybe you should trash my opinion. lol!
You mentioned shrinking attention spans, and that reminded me that while viewing, I felt it was running long, but then at the end it was so impressive, that I felt the length was worth it.
Art, in every form is subjective. We all have our own opinions and perceptions of it. Mine is but one. I might be willing to tolerate a long-running video that "pays off" in the end, whilst someone else may not. I may miss slight timing inconsistencies and someone else may go mad over them. What matters is whether or not YOU as the creator of this piece of art are satisfied with it, and ultimately can sit back and say, "I did this." with happy, shit-eating grin on your face.
@02:22Thank you. I always do create for myself, trying to keep potential viewers out of mind while i work, at least until i'm close to finished, and only then think about whether final changes need to include any modifications - usually, sadly, certain acts of self-censorship - in consideration of who might see it. The reason at its simplest is that if i tried it otherwise (meaning, create for the viewers before/instead of creating for myself)- well, for my ultimately subjective approach, it just doesn't work, stands a pitiful small chance of being much good.... As for this particular piece, i had it in mind and had worked on it in fragments over a long period of time (the music was ready for the then-unknown-video since '07, the installation beginning in '09, and the complete concept and components early this year; so, naturally, when i finally did complete the whole as seen here, my disappointment was greater than my relief at having it done at long last... that was in the wee hours; however, when I watched it the following morning I was quite happy, not exactly shit-grinning, but surprised that it came this close to the original ambitions. The main thing I would have liked is for it to be much longer, to befit all the years and ideas and emotions of preparations. One of the main reasons i made it only 2 minutes short is that i realized (at 's suggestion/urging) that it was that song which was meant for the soundtrack, and I definitely wasn't willing to alter the song to make it longer. Otherwise, I think it's likely that I will revisit the project to make some very different variation at some point... probably a very large still-image montage to start, and someday incorporate its parts into a longer, more complex video-work.... -y.
@02:22Wow, I had no idea that piece was under construction for so long. Kudos to you for actually completing it!
And I'm very happy you create for yourself. That is great. The way I read what you wrote, I was a bit concerned, but no longer. Best wishes to you and your future endeavours.
